The Western Balkans is one of Europe’s richest ecosystems — and one of its most vulnerable. Illegal bird hunting, habitat loss, weak protection laws, and political tension put rare species at constant risk.
 
 
The Challenge
 
EuroNatur needed a report on Western Balkan biodiversity that could speak to EU decision-makers while still carrying a strong narrative about the region’s environmental problems. The publication had to balance serious policy recommendations with darker storytelling elements, from habitat loss to illegal bird killing, and remain visually clear, credible, and respectful for a Brussels audience.

The Solution

We created a layout that combines readability with cultural depth. Each chapter received its own pattern inspired by traditional Balkan folklore, built from symbols of local species and landscapes. The colour palette stayed within EuroNatur’s identity, giving the report a cohesive and recognisable look. The final result brought structure to complex content and gave the publication a unique visual signature.
